Faith Relations

Church Partners

"My fervent prayer is that our combined lights will be so bright that millions of people will see our good work and God will be glorified as never before.  We will make shelter such a matter of conscience that we will, in fact, eliminate poverty housing and homelessness."

-Millard Fuller, founder of Habitat for Humanity

Founded as a Christian housing ministry in 1976, Habitat for Humanity is driven by a desire to put faith into action. We believe each house built or renovated by Habitat for Humanity serves as a vehicle for witnessing God’s love.

Born out of a commitment to shared principles, partnerships with local churches play an important part in our goal to eliminate substandard housing. Churches provide us with much needed volunteer, spiritual, and financial contributions. Congregations that partner with us find new ways to express their faith and experience a stronger sense of community through their service to God.

Though we are committed to our Christian identity, Habitat for Humanity warmly welcomes and invites those of all faiths and no faiths to participate in any aspect of the organization.
Here are a few ways churches can partner with Habitat:

- Donate and prepare lunches for volunteers on site
- Organize volunteer groups to build
- Become a Covenant Church
- Keep us in your prayers
- Sponsor or co-sponsor a house
- Send representatives to sit on the Church Relations Committee
