AmeriCorps

Arundel Habitat for Humanity will be starting its 4th year with AmeriCorps, and we are so happy to be a part of this program!  Habitat AmeriCorps members serve with the affiliate for approximately 1 year (1700 hours of community service) and receive a living allowance, health benefits, a stipend for rental housing, and an educational award voucher.  For more information about AmeriCorps, visit their website.  Meanwhile, here are the positions we will have open for the 2008-2009 service year:

** Construction Assistant: 3 positions open
These members will work full-time on the construction site with the construction staff and volunteers.  Talk abut hands-on experience!  The construction crew works Tuesday-Saturday each week (since the majority of our volunteers come out on Saturdays).  Construction members assist the construction crew in all aspects of the home building process.  Members will be trained on site- experience is helpful but not necessary.  Additionally, these members will be responsible for leading small groups of volunteers in the construction of our homes.

** Family services Assistant: 1 position open
This is a position that supports the Family Services Manager by providing outreach to potential habitat families, works with applicant families during the screening and selection process, helps to monitor their "sweat equity" hours, and coordinate speakers and materials for the "HomeBuyer's College".  Arundel Habitat is in need of a member who is comfortable working with indivduals and families who are actively pursuing the dream of homeownership and may encounter barriers during the process. this member helps to recruit Family Partners from within the Habitat community to offer applicant families guidance and support throught the process of becoming habitat homeowners.
