Maryland Avenue Fall Festival

We will meet on Monday, November 17 from 6:30 - 8:30 at the Lowes Hotel We had a terrific opportunity to reach out to Annapolis at the Maryland Avenue Fall Festival on Sunday, September 28 from 10 until 5. Ellen Turner, a Women Build team member, owns the Scarlett Letter Antiques store that is located in the Opera House on Maryland Avenue.  Ellen had graciously offered space just inside the Opera House for a Women Build table.  She paid the vendor fee, set up a table and chairs, and decorated the table with a fall theme.  All we had to do was man the table! And it' was out of the rain and in the shade - what a bonus!

A Great Beginning

The Women Build project on July 14, 2008 had a picture perfect beginning.

Greeting the guests as they boarded the Cabaret II was festive, as old friendships were renewed and new friendships were made.  As we cruised our way down the Scenic Severn River, a buffet of scrumptious food donated by The Main Ingredient and delicious stuffed pea pods donated by Saucy Salamander were accompanied with refreshing drinks from the bar.  A brief presentation and power point slide show helped us learn about Arundel Habitat for Humanity and Women Build .

Thoughtful questions were asked and we felt the energy build: Committee sign up sheets were signed, donations and pledges were made (over $15,000!), and Women Build hats and folders were given to guests.  Patricia Palumbo, one of 24 who donated and pledged during the cruise, won the Tiffany necklace door prize.

Thank you to all who came to City Dock on a beautiful night for an extraordinary opportunity to give back. A special Thank You to Debbie Gosselin from Watermark , and the Captain and crew of the Cabaret II.

We Made the Papers!

Both the Sun Paper  and The Capital covered our Kick-Off event.  We've received numerous emails from individuals and companies that would like to join us by making donations. Please encourage local businesses that you know to contact us to see how their company can join our campaign. We will gladly meet with them and provide more in depth details on the corporate sponsorships.

We are 15% toward our goal of $100,000 needed to build our house.  This was raised in just 90 minutes at the kick-off Reception.  Thank you to those who donated or pledged.  Let's keep the momentum going...
